West Chelsea, New York City
Our client was a serious art collector, with a particularly impressive collection of works on paper. Her new 1245 square foot apartment was near the High Line in West Chelsea and she needed us to integrate her art and objects into the new space. Without denying her past, least of all her own personality, she wanted the apartment to bear witness to a new phase of her life.
We removed the wall separating the living area and the guest bedroom installing sliding doors. That produced a sense of openness as well as providing the option for privacy for guests. Our biggest challenge was how to showcase her large collection of art and furniture. So we focused our design on a careful assembly of both old and new objects, and thus we were able to create a nuanced and elegant space that she was proud to call her new home.
